kelli, of the nine neighbors i know, 4 of these homes have lost the income of the main breadwinner. everyone has lost money in other ways. and many in our neighborhood bought homes when the market was ridiculously high so their homes are worth far less now. "great collapse" seems like a fitting term for this series of events.
i too heard parker palmer on the bill moyers show. it was a wonderful interview of the possibilities moving forward.
as always, thank you for sharing.

thank you for your post on Speaking of Faith with Krista Tippett. i have downloaded many of the interviews and enjoyed all of them. listening to them these last couple days, i'm struck by the numbers of guests who turn the "collapse" into a positive...namely the "opportunity" it offers us to examine what we truly need, what are the possibilities, how do we want to shape the future, what will keep going forward, what matters. i particularly liked the interviews with parker palmer, shane claiborne, katie ford and rachel naomi remen.
